Why we're making sustainable building easier
Let's start with the most important things: who we are, what we do, and where we come from.
What we do
Materius is the central platform for selecting, testing, and documenting sustainable building products. We want to bring sustainable materials into as many construction projects as possible. What currently requires a lot of manual work, we accomplish faster, more reliably, and therefore more cost-effectively with technology.
Anyone who designs a building according to standards such as Minergie ECO, SNBS or DGNB
Anyone seeking certification must test each product against the requirements. Today, this often means gathering datasheets, comparing limit values, contacting the manufacturer, and documenting everything. This can quickly add up to 40 to 70 hours of testing per project.
This is precisely where we come in. Our database contains over 30,000 construction products with around 100 verified attributes per product, from composition to supporting documentation. Materius automatically checks materials against project requirements and prepares the necessary documentation. This saves construction managers and planning teams up to 70 percent of the time spent on material testing, freeing up time for what truly matters: sound advice and sound decisions.
Where we come from
Materius emerged from EBP Switzerland, a company with extensive experience in planning, the environment, and sustainable development. Daily practice revealed a gap: knowledge about sustainable materials exists, but it is scattered, difficult to access, and cumbersome to verify. This led to the idea of building a platform to address this challenge.
The team today
Today, we are driving Materius forward together as a team. We combine expertise in sustainable building with software and data competence and work closely with sustainability consultants, general contractors, manufacturers, and certification bodies. Our goal is simple: sustainable building should become the standard, first in Switzerland, then in Europe.
